Why do repeated attacks feel weak?
The yellow meter affects attack strength. Repeated swings while it is empty deal little damage, even when breaking an early crate. Give it time to refill instead of treating the combat as a constant primary-button spam sequence.

How does charging work?
Hold the primary attack to charge. The mechanics guide describes the meter turning blue, with a fully blue meter indicating maximum charged damage. A charge may begin before the recovery meter is completely full; inspect the current HUD instead of requiring a separate full-bar pause first.
Which actions conflict with a held charge?
While holding a charged attack, you cannot run, Wind Dash or throw a weapon. If an escape or ranged opening matters more than the pending strike, release the charge. These restrictions explain an unavailable action without proving your input configuration is broken.
